ABSTRACT
A compound architecture rotorcraft, combine the Vertical Takeoff and Landing VTOL features of helicopters, and efficient autorotation, free from rotor blades cyclic retrieval striking, vibration free features of gyroplanes together, forming a novel Heli-Gyro copter. It comprises counter rotation, intermesh twin rotors on top to produce heavy duty lift; a variable pitch fully articulate rear pusher prop-rotor at straight back to propel efficient forward flight, and able to perform air braking without slash banking the fuselage; a primary engine and a secondary engine powering the twin top rotors and the pusher prop-rotor separately. The twin top rotors are self contain anti-torque, thus remove existing helicopters high drawbacks anti-torque tail rotor assembly, and gain 1/3 more engine power to produce vertical lift simultaneously, and can operate at efficient aerodynamic semi-autorotation mode as well. Beside, the Heli-Gyro copter gain very efficient direct propulsion via its rear pusher prop-rotor, while eliminate the shortages of existing little payload gyroplanes that can’t perform VOTL nor hovering. Furthermore, while having 3 rotors propel at the same time, the VTOL compound Heli-Gyro copter can perform ultimate speed forward flight and ultimate 3D flight. Plus, its
extraordinary heavy duty payload lift make possible to scale it down to very compact rotor-span, and even allow to take off and landing on private houses flat roof or backyard, ideal for private sector future door to door 3D transportation. |
